Artist Bio:Until I reached SENIOR status, I had no time to reach out to the things that called to me. I started off teaching embroidery to groups of women, but soon found that the time commitment kept me away from my own interests. Some of my friends 'dragged' me to the dark side – quilting – and I was hooked. Today, for me, it is the transformation of the ordinary to the extraordinary that keeps me moving on. I am a textile artist. I have exhibited nationally and internationally plus I donate 'art quilts' for mental health groups and the humane society. My daughter had a lived experience of mental health issues and I thank God daily for the workers who found a stabilizing treatment. She is very talented and from a four-year-old could draw anything she would look at. She drew the shape and I did the painting on this birdhouse. We hope someone enjoys our joint effort on the house we painted.
